POVERTY BAY ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING At the annual meeting of the Poverty Bay Hockey Association last evening, Mr P. Sim was in the chair, and there was a largo attendance. The lion, secretary, Mr W. Bullivant, submitted the annual report and balance' sheet. The chairman referred with regret to the absence of Mr A. Cassin, owing to illiiess. Mr Cassin had been a- member of the association for 23 years, ,nd had never previously missed an annual meeting. A motion was passed expressing sympathy with Mr Cassin and hoping for a speedy recovery. Speaking on the report, the chairman referred to the high standard of play last season and congratulated the winning tearrv» and also the Mangatu team, which had come such a distance regularly to play games. The season had been a very successful one. The ladies’ rep. team had won the Lady Carroll Shield. The Y.M.I* men's team also won the Carroll Cup! This was the first occasion that both the shield and the cup had been held in Poverty Bay at one time. The president also referred to the linking up of the Wairoa Association with, the Poverty Bay Association, and to the assistance given by the St. John Ambulhnce Association (fluring the season. He also congratulated Mr Quinn and Mr Henderson on their initiative in starting the Referes* Association, and hoped it. would increase in membership. He also referred to the two lady players nominated to represent the Bay at the ladies’ trial match to select players for the Australian tour. The election of officers resulted: Patroness, Mrs Keiha; patron, Mr J. J. Martin; president, Mr H. Armstrolrig; vi'ce>-presidents, Messrs W. Bullivant, T. Smale, Cooper, G. Tattersall, W. Ogilvie, W. Faltridge, O. R. Olsen, and M. Tankard ; hon. treasurer, Mr A. Cassin; hon secretary, Mr G. Quinni; hon. register, Mr G. File; auditors, Messrs W. Ogilvie and Price; association hon. secretary, Mr B. Crosby. The election of the vice-president and delegate to the Wairoa Association was left- open until the Wairoa Association has nominated its own members Mr Sim congratulated Mr Bullivant on the manner in which lie had carried out his secretarial duties during the season. Mr Bullivant suitably replied. Votes of thanks were passed to the press and to Mr Low' for the use of Le Grand Lounge. There will be a practice at the reserve on Saturday next at 10 a.m. for all players. All the clubs arc afiked to appoint delegates for the next meeting, to he held -on Tuesday, April 23.
