Over seventy men, women and children are dead and 200 were injured, many critically, in the greatest cinema disaster in the history of Canton. Following a 50 per cent, reduction in prices at the Capitol Theatre, a ' crowd flocked the building yesterday, when suddenly during the perform- ; ance thcrew as an ominous crackling followed by a terrific crash, and the j entire balcony collapsed, hurling hUn- ' tlreds into the stalls below, where J masses of concrete, tons of masonry, and dust covered the screaming people. There were indescribable scenes, the uninjured fighting to gain the . exits. j The back section of the theatre I was in complete ruins.
