As Dodger, a butler whose dijrnity in spite of a succession of very strange incidents*, never become ruffled, Sydney Howard presents as amusing a character ns he has yet given fi.m-goers. TTis unhurried,, rather ponderous style has seldom boon employed .with nicr© amusing results. But besides Sydney Howard, there are such, gifted artists as Winifred Shotter. remembered for her performances in the majority of the Aldiwych Theatre farces with Tom Walls and Ralph Lynn, Efsie Randolph, another popular comedienne, Connie Ediss, in the part c.f a comic lady’s maid. Austin Mclferd. .Tack Melford, Harold French and Marjorie Brooks. The result-is farce of the most hilarious order, with various husbands and wives alternately pursuinp and avoiding each other at an English oountrv house. The second feature, ‘The Man From Toronto,’ was a -.great stag© success, an f -| has been brought to the screen with , the happiest results, with Jessi© Matthews, the. comedienne in the leading role. Miss Matthews’ part affords yet further proof of the amazing ability of this-star of revue.
