ARE DUCKS TROPHIES?
BOWLING CENTRE PROBLEM. NZ. COUNCIL TO DECIDE. f|>r,.KP .\ssLvjaWoa. CHRISTCHURCH, April 9. Can ducklings be regarded as trophies ? This question was lengthily discussed at a meeting of the Christchurch Bowling Centre. Some members considered the question move serious than others, and finally it was decided to write to the Hew Zealand Bowling Council asking for a definition of the word “trophy.’ “We are the guilty club,” said Mr \\r Healy, .representing the Kaiapoi Working* Men’s Club. “We gave 12 ducklings as prizes. If it is not peiv missible, then a motion should be put through prohibiting the practice.” Another delegate said that he bail seen nothing'wrong. He had played in the Rakaia bowling tourney once and won four turkeys.
Mi’. G. W. 0. Smithson said that ducklings, geese, and fowls were not trophies. The only definition of a trophy was something that could hengraved. The Dominion rules were strict on the point.
