FINAL DUNEDIN SALE. . INCREASE OF. UP TO 11 d. SUPER. lIA LEERED MAKES 14d (Press Association.;* DUNEDIN), AjVrii; 0. The final Dunedin wool sale of the season was held yesterday, when catalogues of 10,385 hales were submitt edl. The offerings at, this .time of the selling season usually, are of a straggler nature-, tho wool being • • heavy in condition. Yesterday’s catalogue, however, co'iitnmcrl a number of* early shorn clips of attractive quality. Crossbred clips, were more in prominence titan at previous sales and several lots of stylish quality wool grown in the Tapann.i and Gore, districts were inoudril in all catalogues. There were also n. number of clips of good hnlfbred and merino wool ft, with a fair ■sprinkling of late-shorn heavy conditioned station clips, the latter showing seed. All purchasing countries were fully represented, and competition through out was exceptionally keen. Buyers operated oh more elastic limits than at previous safes, the Continental sec. turn, particularly France) being the leanest purchaser of fine fleece and pieces. Bradford was opera tin nr freely for crossbred' and hnlfbred wools, but Germany who has purchased spar in.gly in all New Zealand sales this season, was again practically out of the market, only purchasing a limited quantity. Both American and Japanese orders, were on the small side, Avhil.c local mills operntde only moderately, havinb purchas- ( ed the hulk of their requirements enfl ier in the season. Tile increased competition, at the salo resulted in an advance in values over the Vast sale hold here in March. This advance was noticeable in all grades of wool but was more marked on finer wools, which,, in some instances, for a few special lots, were higher by lid per lb. All other grades of fine •■and medium hal.fbrecls improved to the extent of Id to Id per lb. Crossbreds were also firmer by id to Id per lb, while merino clips improved b.v id per lb. The sale was a particularly good one for pieces, which showed an advance of id to Id per lb according to lnoness and 1 quality- o Only in exceptional cases where growers had) very high reserves were any passings recorded, the bulk of woofs being sold at auction. The top price realised on sale was 1.4,-t pel* lb for three bales of extra super halfbred grown by Air Charles \Y. Mitchell, of Outran!.
