OFFICIAL' OPENING CEREMONY, VISIT FRO At ACTING-PREMIER. Intimation that the acting-prime Minister, the Hon. E. A. Ransom, will visit Gisborne in connection math the official inauguration of tho Gis bornc-Napior air service on Alonday next was received 1 yesterday by East Coast Airways. Ltd. This recognition of the importance of tho event is regarded by the directors, as highly satisfactory. In view of the opening of the eervico much work has been carried out on Darton Field and also on the Nlapior aerodrome, both fields being considerably improved! with still, furitlior improvements projected for the next few days. Yesterday a. eonfei'cnce between the directors and the Napier Borough Council m;as. hotel, Ales,si’s J. G. N°lan and) George Cirawshnw travelling through to HawkcVs Bay in the company’s Dragon. Information regarding, the date on which the second Dragon machine wifi be ready for tests at Hobsonville,. Auckland, is now being await ed by the company tho agents for tli© machines having advised 1 that inquiries. are being made in Australia for, certain spares which are not carried in stock in- New Zealand at present. Should it be possible to secure the materials required from Australia, the second machine should! he ready for testing within a fortnight, it is believed. In the meantime, it may prove necessary to overhaul the schedule, of passenger flights 1 betricou Gisborne and Napier, in order .7o ensure that the one machine in operation may he thoroughly serviced between trips.; Among the visitors to' Gisbbhrie in connection with next week’s official opening of the service..wilf be.
