WAVE OF CRIME
•WORST SPELL IN MELBOURNE FOR. YEARS HOLD-UP MEN AND THIEVES AGAIN ACTIVE. (U.P.A. by Elec. Tel. Copyright.) MELBOURNE, April 8. Hold-up men and thieves were again active during the week-end. Five crimes were reported, and two victims so seriously beaten that they were sent to hospital. Superintendent Culbane. °f the criminal investigation branch, said that Melbourne was experiencing the worst crime wave for years.
