CARNERA’S MANAGER GETS FOUR MONTHS

(U.P.A. by Elec. Tel. Copyright) NEW YORK, March 9.

William J. Duffy, Camera’s manager. who graduated from Sing Sing penitentiary to a Broadway boxing promoter and cabaret impressario, was sentenced to four months’ imprisonment for income tax evasion-. He returned from the supervision of Camera in tbe Loughran bout just in time to be sentenced. Duffy was convicted in January, but the court deferred sentence, Duffy hoping to realise enough on the Carnera-Loughran match to make good the delinquent taxes on his income

Duffy owes the taxes on income derived from a barnstorming tour Camera made in 1930. Previously Duffy served a penitentiary sentence for robbery, and later was known in New York as a “big time racketeer.”
