NEGOTIATIONS FOR AGREEMENT (British Official Wireless ) RUGBY, Dec. 28 The French and United Kingdom Governments have agreed that conversations shall be initiated as soon a.s possible with the object of adjusting commercial relations between the two countries. These conversations have been rendered possible by the decision of the French Government to suppress, •a !g from January 1 the exchange surtax of 15 per cent, ad valorem hitheito levied on British goods on importation into France. A bill authorising a reduction of the turnover tax to 2 per cent, already has been laid before the French Parliament. The French Government lias assured His Majesty’s Government that it will press on with the measure.
