HEAVY TOLL OF JAMAICAN HURRICANE;. - RELIEF EXPEDITIONS.

Hurriedly organised relief expeditions chopped their way into northwestern Jamaica to-night, following reports that ten are dead, scores homeless and property damage is estimated at 3,000,000 dollars in the area stricken by the week-end hurricane. For the general elections on Thursday there will be contests for 41 seats out' of 47, the other six being postponed because of the death of Mr. W. j Bowser, a candidate for Victoria City and the election of four and Vancourvcr having elected two. The elections follow two years of political confusion. Unless one party gets a majority over all the others, the complexion" for the next Government will probably be decided only after prolonged negotiations aomng the elected members. Mr. T. D. Patullo leads the Liberals, who have generally maintained a solid front amid the general confusions.
