WHEAT" SLUMP
LOW PRICES IN DAKOTA. EXPORTS BANNED. (U.P.A. by Elec, Tel. Copyright) (Rec. Oct. 17, 7,35 p.m.) NEW YORK, Oct. 16. The Governor of North Dakota, Mr. William Langer, late tonight signed a proclamation prohibiting the shipment of wheat from North Dakota, to become effective at midnight on Wednesday and continuing indefinitely. Ho will ask the governors of other spring wheat-producing States to join him. Mr. Langer took action under authority granted by the 1933 legislature. Wheat sold in Grand Forks on Saturday for 53 cents a bushel which, he said, "means ruin to ma n y of our people if prices in other lines continue to advance,” Under Federal estimates as on October 1, the North Dakota wheat production will this year be 62,695,000 bushels.
