Thirty men on horseback and four hands escorted Mr. Do Valera in on open .carriage with a top-hatted coachman and footman into Enniscorthy. where ho addressed several thousand people, declaring that the Free State could not afford to dissipate her energy in bickering. Peace was an urgent necessity, for which tho Government was determined to prevent disorder. He warned those planning a -dictatorship that the Irish people would not abandon their liberty without a long and bitter struggle.
