SIR THOAIAS K. SIDEY

(Press Association) DUNEDIN, Aiay 20. The death occurred to-day of Sir Thomas Sidev.

Sir Thomas Kay -Sidey is wellknown throughout New Zealand as the originator of daylight saving. Year after year ho brought Ms Bill before the House and each time it was rejected until 1927. Now it would be hard to imagine tlie- country reverting to the old system inthe summer. Sir Thomas was educated atNapier and then attended Barrett’s Collegiate School in Dunedin and also the Otago Boys’ High School. On leaving the Boys’ High School he attended the Otago University for, four years and graduated in arts and’ law. He commence his legal ' training in. the office of Air Saul So’omon, and then commenced business on his own account.

Sir Thomas first stood" for 'Parliament 'in 1896, when he contested the Caversham seat during the Seddou regime. When AH Atprrison died in 1901 Sir Thomas was . successful in beating Messrs W. R.
