GISBORNE CENTRE’S ANNUAL

It wa s decided that the secretaries of clubs affiliated to the centre forward applications for the dates of their respective trials for the oncoming'season to Mr, Ellery. ■

The Waimata club, the only one applying, .was granted . permission to conduct the centre championships in 1934, subject- to the committee, comprising Messrs. M. Parkinson, A. McCrae and J. C. Hyland, approving th© course. Failing the agreement of the committee, the clubs are to forward fresh applications for consideration. Mr. M. Parkinson was appointed delegate to represent the dist-ricTs in the North Island executive. Air. A..McCrae was appointed judge for the 1934 championships, and, failing his acceptance, Mr. AY. O’Connor is to act. Messrs. C. T. Clark, P. Fitzgerald, E. Kingston, (subject to their approval) and M. O’Sullivan were added to the list of judges.

One member brought up the report of tho Automobile Association concerning ihe accidental killing oi shepherds’ dogs. The report, taken from the 1932 year hook,. stated “Dogs killed on highways.-—The- secretary reported that there had boon a number pf recent cases in which motorists had boon subjected to excessive claims for dogs accidentally killed. The following resolution was passed: “That it lie a recommendation to the council that free legal defence be extended to members who arc subjected to civil claims for killing dogs in cases where the council considers such claims arc unreasonable.’ JI After considerable discussion it wag resolved that- this should, bo referred to tho North Island executive.

Accounts were passed for payment, there being a balance of £lO 2s. It was decided that each club should forward a levy of £1 to the centre - for each ‘ year and. that the centre should purchase three gold medals for maiden competitor and dog scoring most points in each class.
