SWINE FEVER
IMPORTATION FROM CANADA. REG ULATIONS ALTERED. ' Prp.oa Association.. WELLINGTON, May 18. A Gazette notice to-niglit aunounces- that clause G of the .regulations in the Stock Act, I9OS. governing the importation of swine from Canada is revoked and the following substituted: .‘-‘Upon arrival in New Zealand • the swine shall undergo at the quarantine ground, a period .of 30. days’ quarantine, and the fees, therefor, for transport and sustenance shall be the same as provided for swine in the principal .regulations.” OUTRBEAK AT JOHNSON VILI.E GOO PIGS TO BE SLAIN Alovs than GOO pigs will be slaughtered .in the JobnsouviUe area in combating the outbreak of. swine-fever, and it is hoped this drastic action will have the effect of suppressing ti a disease. Not only the pigs sufferng from swine lever, but all which have been in contact with them are ’.o be destroyed. No further eases of infection are i exported, but a close inspection is being -maintained throughout the district by the department.
