3TURTEORL) LODGE PRICES FIRM HASTINGS, May 17. Eat- sheep sold well at Stortford Lodge to-day when an entry of 5000 head was yarded. Export buyers pushed up lamb prices all round. Ewes, and wethers made prices which were firm on last week’s rates. Lambs and ewes were in the majority, wethers being sparse. Ewes: Prime, 7s -id to Ss Sd; others, from 4s 9d. Lambs: i Prime, 12s to 14s 7d; others from Os 3d; wethers, 10s to l-ls. Tho store sheep numbered 1 . 4200 head. The demand was good, particularly, for forward lamb lilies. Tlie quality of both fat- and store sheep was an .improvement on last week’s offering. Stores: Ewes, 6s to 9s; wethers, Ss Gd to 11s ; lambs, 4s 7d to 10.
There was a moderate yarding of 290 'fat and 403 store cattle. Tho quality of fat cattle was mixed. Prices were much on a par with last week’s, with some lines a slight rise in values. Quality entries, were as usual in good demand. Bullocks, medium to prime, £5 3s to £7 2s 6d; others from £3 15s 2d. Cows, medium to prime, £3 os to £4. others from £1 10s; heifers, £3 2s to £3 1-s 6d.
