HOW TE ARAROA SOLVES UNEMPLOYMENT. (Special To The Times). TE ARAROA, May loFor the cause that lacks assistance For tho future in the distance And the good that we can do. At an early stage of the present •economic crisis a strong Local- Unemployment 'Committee, * representative of all classes, was set up at To Araroa, over which Mr. C. M. Williamson presides and, under his vigorous administration, the matter °f want of employment lias been kept well in check. Tho committee’s mainstay in absorbing surplus labour lias been the Matakaoa County Council but, on occasions, other public bodies have como to the rescue and much public work has resulted. That hardy annual (the Te Araroa Domain Board) is the employing body this week ) as it was last week. Te ’Araroa is justifiably proud of its Domain and each successive chairman of the Board (Mr. IV. L. Bailey is the- occupant of the office this year) ha s given whole-hearted attention to the maintenance of this pleasing spot. Mr. J, Godfrey is the secretary of both the committee and the. hoard, and, through tho exigency of circumstances, becomes the supervisor of the work to be done a triple post that is probably uniquo in the dismal annals of the activities of unemployment committees.
