At the wool sales, 10,145 bales were offered, including 7168 from New Zealand, and about 8968 bales were sold. Brisk competition continued from all sections, and the oifering was mostly cleared. Prices showed a general advance of 5 per cent, above the opening rates. New Zealand sales : Greasy crossbred, JLR, top 9£d, average 6d; scoured merinos, Oxford, ISJd and 17d. The Yorkshire Observer says it is gratifying that the recovery of wool prices is benefiting manufacturers, many of whom report more business than for many months. It is anticipated that the improved activity will continue for <x considerable time. The Yorkshire Post says the London increases are the most pronounced Jfor two wears, and it m widelybelieved that they (will he maintained, and false levels prevented.
