BRITAIN’S NOTE TO AUSTRIA PROVES EFFECTIVE
MUNITIONS BEING- RETURNED TO ITALY (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Feb. 21 In the House of Commons, the Foreign Secretary was asked whether a settlement had been reached in the matter of the recent importation of arms into Au'stria. .Ho replied: “The Italian Ambassador saw me yesterday about arms recently sent from an Italian consignor to two Austrian factories, and informed me that the Italian Government, for its part, wa's prepared to agree that ths arms in question, which were sent to Austria for the purpose of being reconditioned, should brt sent hack to Italy as soon as p-.-S----fatible after the fulfilment r.f the contract for reconditioning. "The Ambassador informed me that some of the arms already had been sent back to Italy. It is understood that the return of the remainder will be evidenced in due course by a customs certificate oi tho Austrian authorities. THe British Government, for its part, hop-: es that the question could fie con-, sidered closed by the general acceptance of this proposal.
