COMPLAINT
SEVER AT, R EST<! NA TI OX S
I Press Association.! WELLINGTON. Jan. 11
- A considerable stir has boon created in military circles hy the reported resignations of several permanent staff officers on the ground that the present rales of pay arc inadequate and that there are insufficient prospects for them to remain in the Now Zealand Army. New Zealand staff officers’ pay is al ■legod long to have been among the -lowest ' in the world hut, .notwithstanding this, the Government has been so little appreciative of these officers’ servicer, that, in conformity with iis policy regarding the Civil Service, it has imposed two 10 per cent, cuts, which have made it impossible for the officers to maintain their rank and their wives and families. It has been definitely ascertained that, among the officers who lately resigned on the grounds already stated .is Major - AV. Ivory, who has been inspecting ordnance officer and mechanical engineer for the New Zealand forces for the past eleven years except for .in interval of 17 months when ho was O.C. Coast Defence, Auckland. Major Tvorv will leave to-morrow for England, where' he will enter civil life.
