Eight, men occupying a motor.shed at the rear of. a boarding •house in Stab ford street were asleep when a>me dozen men a rmed with rpanuka waddies and shortened pickaxe handles broke into the shed and attacked the' sleepers. . The affair lasted only, a few minutes. The attackers cleared off. One man, Dick, of Apiti, received -nasty bead injuries and was ordered to hospital after the wound had been stitched.
A tent at. the rear of the shed..was cut to ribbons. Fortunately the occupant was away -at- the time.
