The movement to' call a world wheat production conference at Ottawa on January 17 gained impetus to-day when the Premiers of Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Manitoba, students of the -wheat situation and Dominion grain growers, joined! in approval of the suggestion that should the. Dominion Government ’ approve, Australia, Argentina and United States would he invited. The proponents believe if production can be justified in accordance with the needs of the importing nations, tire world wheat flood would be checked, prices consequently improving. The demand on the whole has been fair but it has been affected by Australian. new season’s lamb gelling at Cd for 2’s and 5d for B’s delivered. The beef market remains quiet with prices unchanged. New Zealand porker pigs are meeting with a good trade, and for baconers prices are nominal.
