BANK RETURN
HEAVY FALL IN FREE
DEPOSITS
FIXED DEPOSITS SHOW FURTHER INCREASE.

The bank returns for the quarter ending December, 1932, reveal a heavy decline of free deposits, the total beilji £16,087,313 compared with £16,145,438 as at December, 1931. Fixed deposits show an increase of £701,419 from £34,635,595 in December 1931 to £35,337,014 in. December, 1932. The aggregate of deposits is £50,461,342 compared with £50,781,033 in 1931. Advances have contracted by £700,937, these being £19,616,743 for December, 1932, compared with £50,317,688 in 1931. The contraction is shared by all the hanks except the National Bank, which, has increased its advances by £248,214. Discounts declined by £82,089 from £699,093 to £617,004, Note circulation increased £89,954, compared with 1931. Coin and bullion have decreased from £6,872,637 to £5,420,060.
