The Prince of Wales, in a broadcast talk, renewed his earlier appeal for support on behalf of the National Council of Social Service, which is organising voluntary efforts to find useful occupations and suitable recreation to fill in the time of the unemployed. He emphasised that the present was a time of national emergency. He referred to his special visits to the rural and industrial areas of England, where he saw work being done by, and on behalf of the unemployed. He expressed the greatest admiration for what he saw, and the fact that men who might be excused for being discouraged were refusing to be idle.
