‘RED DUST”
After being in preparation for nearly a vear. the long-awaited screen version of Wilson C’ollisotrs play. “Red Dust”, co-starring two of the most magnetic personalities oti the talking screen. Jean Harlow and Clark Gable, will have its premier Gisborne presentation at the Regent Theatre. The plot of -‘Red Du’st” revolves about the dramatic triangle which results when a young engineer brings hip wife to a rubber plantation settlement in tlm sweltering fever-ridden tropics. If ever there was a perfectly east picture it i 3 this one. Playing one of the most powerful roles of bis caroei, Clark Gable is cast as Dennis Carson, brutal overseer. Jean Harlow portrays the seductive Vantino, Ibo Lady of the Sampans” a lady "I leisure,: who. makes regular trips up the river from Saigon. to visit the rubber plantation’s. Gene Raymond is seen as Gary Willis, young engineer who is fever-stricken through one "I thebig crises of bis marital life. Alary Aston plays hr s wife, who comes „ into the tropical hell with a lot of pretentions that are soon lost. Donald Obrisp has the part of Guidon, drunken overseer, who originally brought Vantine to the plantation. An important character role is filled by Tullv Marshall, a ri<! Forre'ster Harvey portrays Hie “Limey” English riverboat pilot who connects the remote locality with the outside world. The picture is definitely hot for juven : lies. The supporting bill includes an entertaining comedy in which Thelma Todd and Zajsu Pttp are featured, the latest Metrotone Newsreel, and the ninth-of the Bobby Jones golfing shorts, in which “the wizard of the links”' demonstrates his remarkable “Driving.” „ •
