Hall to-day, mainly as the result of competition by Jafpan. Before the sale, the-expecta-tions;: were that the market would o firm on December prices so that e rise, although a. small ono was doubly welcome.

There was very strong Competition for fine wools, commonly called halfbreds. Dominion mills, 'japan Bradford, and the Continent bidding very freely. The quality of this wool was somewhat better than that offered at the first Wellington sale, on December 10 and better, prices were realised. This market can be quoted as Tally firm on December prices. Passings were few, growers showing o disposition to meet- the market.

The catalogue approximated 29,500 bMes and authoritative estimates were that 92 per cent. was. disposed of under the. hammer. The quantity of old wool was much loss than that at the first sale and it would seem that, so far as Wellington is concerned little old wool is about. The sale lasted six hours.
