M ifch the advent of such large numbers of outside visitors appearing in Gisborne from the end of this month onward, the carnival committee 01 the Olympic Club have decided to conduct as many of its club championships as soon as possible. .No less than seven of such events have been included in the programme for next Thursday night, these being the 3. l-3yds. junior (two separate events for boys and girls).; IGfiyds. Intermediate and similar distance for the men; 50yds. intermediate girls ; men’s (living championships and ladies diving championship.

The dives allotted for these championships are as per list of selection ■for provincial championships in- bo held here early in February and embrace for men-.—-High hoard. No, 1 plain header forward running. No. R backward header, No. 13 islander half gainer running (a) (straight,; low hoard No. 17 backward spring forward dive (a) (straight). No. 21 half screw forward standing. Tn addition in these compulsory dives five voluntary dives are allowed the men. The ladies dive championship will embrace No. ], 13, and 17 above with three voluntary dives in addition. All volunfaiy dives have to be nominated at Dine of entry. A 100yds. ladies and 100yds men’s badge relay will bo run in addition to the four star races over 33 l-3yds. and 50yds for men and similar distances. for ladies. a 100yds. interel nb handicap being the second distance for the Ftonehnm Cup and the 50yds. in.teroluh being the second distance for the Swan Cycle Cup. I here is a consolation dive open to those not taking part in the ehampinsh.ip dives, and the novelty event will hie a hieh ribbon dive which is also in.teroluh. A special water polo match between possible and probables will take place for selection of the team for the Te Awn Shield match later. Water polo practises will take place this Sundav at 10 a.m.. Monday night and Wednesday night at S' p.m.. nil at Macrae Baths.
