KERERU BRIDGE COMPLETED

ALL-WEATHER ROUTE TO GISBORNE. (Special to the Times). OPOTIKI. Oct. 14. With the completion of the bridge ox’er the Kereru river, settlers on the East Coast now have an almost- allweather route from Opotiki to Gisborne. The Kereru bridge, which was constructed- by Air. J. Kerr, Is IOQ feet long, xvith four spans of 2d feet each, the piles being of birch and rimu. The cost is £330. Recent freshes in the river slioxv the bridge xvill be of great service, as the xvater just reached the bottom of ibu decking. There now only remains the bridge over the Raukokore to 1/e built. This is being started immediately by the same contractor, and will be 173 feet long.
