COMMERCIAL

W AIKATO -MARKET

A further decline in both fat .sheep and beef has been registered during the week, and beef is now selling at u, lower figure than is usual at this dime of the year. There does not appear (to be much prospect of an improvement in prices unless the exporters start operations, and with the low rates ruling on the Borne market it seems highly improbable •that' itlio exporters will be able _to operate at all. Naturally the decline in beef wil have an effect on the store market, but to what extent it is difficult to say, as the. abundance of iced will no doubt be a <set*ofl against' the drop in beef. Large yardin gs of store etyfflo are the order of the dav, although not many straight lines of male cattle are coining iorward. There is still an inquiry for this class of stock, although vendors arc not at all pleased with the prices offered. Store sheep are still inquired for, and are hard to procure. In the dairy section a considerable amount of business is being done, and prices for all good quality boilers hold good. Large numbers of pigs arc everywhere being dealt with, and the market for all classes remains firm.
