OLD BOYS CLUB

\ REVIEW OF. LAST SEASON

The annual report of the Old Boys Cricket Club is’as follows':— f, The 1931-32 season was a very successful one from a playing point of v;iew, and the club again finished as . runners-up to Civil Service, thus annexing the Craiiney Cup. Our congratulations are extended' to the Civil Service .team. Since its inception, our club has had an oxcellent record in senior cricket, four time* winning the Barry Cp, and at ;no time being, further down the ladder than runner-up. During the season the following members attained representative honours, and put up good performances in the matches: Messrs. G. N.- Lockett, G. C. Clifton, CBrew, V. Norma'n and J. C. Dow. A very gratifying feature of the season’s play was that the keenness ana enthusiasm of the players never waned, and that good attendances were maintained at practices throughout. the season. Messrs. Cl, Brew, V. Norman and.J. C. Dow represented the club as delegates at the annual meeting of the P.B. Cricket Association and the latter was again elected as our member on the Governing body. “In keeping with the times our finances have suffereS greatly and at the conclusion of the season we find ourselves in debt. Added to this we will, have to expend a goodly sum in the purchase of new gear, so .that our position in the coming season will be an unenviable one. Our sineerest thanks are due to the undermentioned for their very generous assistance and support: Messrß. P. IT. Harper. F, Foote, L. V. Fyke, and C. Lord,, and the Gisborne High School Old Students’ Association. In conclusion the outgoing committee wish the club every success in the future, and. hope that the keenness shown by the players in the past will be maintained and that the coming season will be even more successful.” The averages of the club for the past .season, as shown by the report, arc as follows: —Batting.— Average.
