Eix men who were arrested oil Wednesday in a Chinese fruit shop in Pitt street, appeared in the Police Court, charged with being found without: lawful excuse in a common gaming house, while a seventh, Ah Hoy, aged 35, was charged with keeping the premises as a common gaining house.
Referring to Hoy, the Magistrate, Mr Humt, said that only last' week there was a similar case, “and these people are simply laughing at the law. i will deal with him as I do with bookmakers. With the exception of one man, who was discharged, each of the other accused found on IJie premises was fined £2 and eo-ts.
