Admiral Brand has retired at his own request to facilitate promotions, resulting in various hag appointments, incWinjr Vice-Admiral HallThompson, who is promoted admiral.
It is the biggest post-war list of retirements.
Fourteen captains are promoted, of whom Id are. being retired, including several famous war-time figures. The retirements are due to the Admiralty's desire, to lower the age at which a captain may reach flag rank.
