Air. Brash said that the Paterson plan was aimed at keeping up -the price or butter in the local market. In New Zealand, tho farmer was being asked tp sell butte 1 at less than it cost him to produce. U would be of no use to New Zealand, for the reason that New Zealand exported all but one-third of her -butter. . ' Air. Brash said the dairy producei in Australia was not having a voiy difficult time. In the best; .districts this year the Australian dairy farmer would he getting as much as is. sd’ per pound for butter-fat, against lid or Is which the New Zealand farmer would receive. That, was partly duo to the Paterson plan, and partly to exchange. For the Paterson phan to be of any benefit.to Now Zealand, it: would ho necessary .to send the price of butter up so high that the public would not stand for it. ■'
