MEAT BOARD COMPETITION
INTEREST IN OTHER CENTRES
Originated by Ml*. J. C. Graham, the fat: lamb competition adopted by the Meat Board is-creating keen, interest in other parts of the North Islands,- a.s ra'a-ny as 225 entries, coming to hand in tho Waikato and 87 in. the Manawatu. At Gisborne the entries totalled 35 and rejections, for various Reasons, brought the number down to 25.

'Associations, writes 1,0 Mr. Graham as follows: “In. regard to the district lamb competition, in which you took such a groat interest, and which has turned" out .successfully,- in some cases at ally pate, I have pleasure in enclosing a copy of our district catalogue covering Manawatu, Fed ding. apd Horewhen.ua A. and P. association's. There were 87 pens of very fine lambs entered, and from these. 55 pens were made up for shipment and display in London. The Longhorn freezing works paid out. to tile cnIranfis for the rejected lambs at schedule rates, and attended lo all work of shipping, through the Meat Hoard. We gave the exhibitors '7olb live weight,’ and were not troubled with overweights-. The lambs wore yarded and judged alive at the works before killing, and there was an excellent attendance of tanners with a good deal of interest displayed. “M aster ton had a good display; also Daupevirke, hut T have not heard how other centres fared. In any e:v;o, 1 wish to congratulate you mi" your perseverance. New ideas and innovations usually lake a good deal of time and trouble, to work up. Tbe.
