Tho local committee of the* A.A.A. met in thi* ,secretary’s office yesterday. Present: Dr. Singer, Messrs. F. Tolorton, A. ISrocklebank. L*. O’Tfatloran. 1L 11. Do Costa, X. HHull F. Swinnertoii. the secretary • (Mr. 0. Crausliau) and Patrol Franklin. Mr. F. Toler!on was re-elected chairman of tho eomniilfcoo. Mr. Brocklebank reported that he had waited on the Borough CouuVil with a view to hating ’certain traffic domes moved, hut the police had opposed the proposed, .alteration. and nothing had been done bv the council. , .. With regard to traffic domes, the secretary read a letter trom Mr. R. E. Champtaloiip, touring manager of tho A.A.A., in which n was staled that in Auckland domes, were now placed in the building line, though domes were rapidly becoming obsolete, being replaced by white lines - The letter was received. In regard to its reference to lines for traffic regulation, it was decided, on u IA motion of Dr. Singer, seconded by Mr II 11. De Costa, to congratulate' the Cook County Council on having adopted the up-to-date policy ot marking certain corners with aluminium' studs and white lines. The secretary reported that he find been informed that tenders would be invited almost immediately for the construction of the \\ aikohu nritlges, while, it was anticipated that, construction would' start at the end of March. Tho secretary went on to say that he had written'to the council'urging that as many men a.s possible be put on tho Waiocka road. This had been done, with the result that the road had been in good condition. for the holidays. The association had re-issued the special Gisborne map, brought up-to-date. Die camps had been made solid use or 'during the holidays, but there had i general complaint* at the lark oi shelter. This state of affairs, however, should be improved when the trees grow up. _ The report wa s adopted. Dr. Sing--or suggesting that a sub-committee be set "up to act with the representatives oi* the Horticultural and \\ alkaline Reach Societies in regard to beautifying the camping, sites. If the site of the, camp were shifted slightly, the* l would be able to place it. behind the . hedge and near some, grown willow tr it was decided to write to the Borough Council with the object of obtaining additional space under the hedrre"und suggesting that Dr. Singer confer with the .Borough Engineer with a view to. ' shifting the camp. Dr. Singer was also appointed to confer with the Horticultural and Beach Societies _ in regard to ! beautifying the camping sites.
