Botli accused were committed for sentence. THEFT AND ATTEMPTED FRAUD. GIRL PLACED ON PROBATION(Press Association) WELLINGTON. Jan. 15. Boris IsobeL Board, 18, was placed on probation for two years by Air. T. B. McNeil. S.M.. in the Police Court to-dav for stealing goods valued at £2 10s, and for attempting to obtain £4O from the Mutual Loan and Deposit Company by false pretences. It was stated that she made arrangements with a land agent for tho renting of u house, giving her namo as Mrs. Landster. She paid £6 Os as two weeks’ rent in advance. Two weeks later she insured some furniture in her assumed name, and the following day attempted to raise £4O ou it. but this led to the police being called in, and it was found that she had taken seme of the property from tho house.' SHORT-WEIGHT BREAD. baker FINED £lO. (Press Association-' WELLINGTON. Jan. 15. TTenrv W. Cox, a baker, was fined £lO in' the Police Court to-day lor delivering short-weight bread. Tho magistrate took into account the fact that Cox did not him,self bake the bread and had given instructions to his foreman to be careful regarding the correct weight.
