The Leader of the Opposition, Sir George Pearce, move dthe adjournment of the Senate to discuss the activities of the Communist Party in Australia; He, quoted from a Communist newspaper, and said that every section of the workers was being “white-anted,” and - they were carefully organised in a- conspiracy to overthrow the existing state of society, in the Commonwealth, and to overthrow the Empire. Sir George Pearce said the Workers’ Weekly published orders issued from Aloscow as to what was to tie done in Australia, and it showed where, these orders (were acted upon, especially in the recent shipping strike. * Senator Thompson: AVhy not charge these people with sedition P Senator Barnes: They may he seditious. If so they will be dealt with. \Ve are prepared to take every action necessary. Senator Rae said he failed to hear any arguments showing why Communism should be summarily dealt with. Senator Pavne: You belong to the Friends of the Soviet Union. Senator Rae: Yes, and I intend to remain in it. Senator AlacLachlan said the Government seemed to fail to recognise the rising tide of rebellion in the country. It could take action under the Crimes Act. RED ROUND-UPS IN CANADA.
