The worst 'hurricane and floods ever experienced in Fiji struck Ba, Lautoka and Sigatoka districts during the week-end. The crew qf the government ship arrived at 7 to-night from Lautoka and report 80' killed at 13a; 00 at Lautoka and 100 .at Sigatoka.
The hurricane was within a narrow radius and was not felt outside these districts, although the glass and conditions ut Suva indicated a cyclone nortli-cast of Suva.
Meteorological conditions have been causing anxiety. It is stated that BaLautoka train was blown off the rails with many casualties. A. six-hundred gallon tank of water was blown 60 l'eet. The Government officials state that, although liLtlc information is available,. they arq aware there .has bqeu a seriou s hurricane and that many lives have been lost. Corning on top of the serious floods in. the Rewa district, near Suva, this means enormous loss to the colony. It is impossible to verify the deaths yet. Th c Nadi lighthouse H reported to have gone.
