In the Plunket Shield match Otago versus Auckland to-day, the home team, with eight down for 264, resumed its innings and carried its total to 323, leaving Auckland 128 to get to win. Alloo made 37 and Hawkesworth 1; the not out man carried his bat for 27. Auckland’s opening batsmen, Postles and Mills, coriimenced the second innings, the latter being howled by* Blunt when 31. Weir was the ..next man in and, with Postles, held the wicket, till rain stopped play at 12.50. A short resumption after lunch saw the. visitors get 75 of the 128 needed to win, but- rain caused a further adjournment and, as it, was still pouring at 4 p.m., play was abandoned for the day.
