Although the notices reducing the Ruhr miners’ wages ' 8 per cent, do not operate until January 15, twentytwo mines have been idled. This is. behoved to be due to Communist propaganda in favor of .an immediate cessation of work. Bands of young Communists allegedly, desecrated inscrintions on headstones in the Bochum cemetery, and smashed ' the windows of hotels in which Fascists are staying. The police have strengthened their forces in the pit districts, believing that the Communists are planning; a reign of terror throughout the Ruhr as a counterblast to the Fascists’ election successes.
