AUSTRALIAN FAILS TO PRODUCE LAST YEAR’S, FORM. (U.F.A. by Elec. Tel. Copyright) • i ONDOX, Sept. 20. Critics am-ee that Lindrum’s concession of 7000 to all opponents in a fortnight’s match, with reduced sessions, will give each a. fair chance of success. Thus-far Lindrum has not produced the form displayed on his previous visit., hut it was so phenomenal then that, nothing under 1000 was regarded as worthy of him. ftmic writers are inclined'to stress the fact that if Lindrum does not improve upon ids form against Falkiner ho will bp hard pressed to win, overlooking the • fact that he is playing under new conditions, such as cloth and cushions. Furthermore, he has no incentive to outstrip Falkiner, the match not being included in the championship round. ’ Ilightly or wrongly, Lindrum, with the exception of ono or two matches against Smith last, .season, - was invariably restrained. With the tournament on a new basis, there is every likelihood that Lindrum’s handicap, if he strikes nal form, will prove no handicap at all. England’s chief hope is .Davis, who ranks with McC’nn'achy. •
; Lindrum has scored 26,287. including a break of 1108, his first fourfigure break this season, and others of, 762, 284, and 562 unfinished. Falliiuer'has scored 18,049,. his best break being- 031.
