Til l BITES TO MESSRS. TEMPLIN

AND TOOGOOD

Warm thanks for past .services to the Poverty Bay Electric Power Board were expressed by members at yesterday’s meeting, to Mr. Ft. FT Toogood] and the firm of Messrs. Templin and Toogood, consulting engineers iu the hoard during the past Ii ui- years.

Towards the close of the meeting, the chairman (Ylr. F. K. Ball) pointed out that this oeeas on was the last when Mr. Tcugood wou.d be present in an oflieiai capacity, the Jinn’s nigagouieiit as consulting engineers terminating that day. He wished to express the wannest _ thanks to Messrs. Templin and r J oogoud lor guiding the hoard through the four must, difficult years, the period ol preliminary work. Most cordial relations had always existed between the consultants, tho hoard, and the stall, and this severance, partial though ir might he. was a matter of great regret. No doubt. however, occasions wiHild arise when they would again he seeking the abstain nee yd the firm. Be plying to the chairman, Mr. Toogood thanked Mr. Ball Jor h s remarks, and stated that fits work with the hoard had, been a great ji ensure to him. There had never been any unpleasantness and the only matters which had caused him uojtv were certain points of delay, a-, for instance, iu obtaining the lull use of the engines. The relationship between his firm and the board had always been pcrlectly harmou'ous. despite the fact, that the diliicult times passed through could easily have let io friction. Great credit was due to the eluvirman. and some to himself, that those diliicult. years had been passed through without trouh'e. Mr. 11. H. DeCosta moved that the Foard place on record its appreciation of tlu' valuable services rendered by Messrs. Templm and Toogood. In seconding the motion. AirixAf. J. White drew an analogy between Moses ami Air. Toogood. Like' the patriarch of old Air. Toogood had led his followers through the times of difficulty i.o within sight of the promised land and then, continuing llic analogy, he was not coming w.tli them into it.

Mr. T. Corson also expressed regret at losing i he services of Alessrs. Templin and Toogood, their relationship- with the, members having always been of tho best and their assistance having proved such an overpresent aid in the beard’s troubles. Air. A. C. Steele congratulated Mr. Tcogood on the able way in which he had^piloted the hoard through its difficulties. No doubt, he added, this could be largely attributed to the fact that members did not pose as engineers. 1

The motion was carried with acclamation. Air. Toogood aga n expressed his thanks, adding that their success as engineers had only been made possible by the readiness with which members had adopted suggestions made to them.
