EXPORT LAMB PRICES
OPENING RATES ANNOUNCED
(Special to the Times.) AUCKLAND, Nov. 24
The opening prices for the 1928-29 season for lamb on the hooks at the freezing works announced yesterday are:
I p to 301 b., 9fd per lb 801 b to 421 b, 9d.
Over 421 b. and second's, BJd. Eop the first time on record Auckland rates are on a par with those ruling iu Hawke’s Bay and Wellington. Lambs have been offering here for the past three weeks, hut tlie works are not expected to be running at full capacity for another week or so yet. In the majority of instances the lambs handled to date this season have netted the seller more than the published schedule rates, and it is not expected that many will be sold on an “on-tlie-liooks” basis at' any time during the season. Farmers for the most part prefer to. deal at so much a head in the paddock.
