A STEP FORWARD.
MR 0. W. ALBERTSON MOVED TO TAUMARUNUI. MR THORNTON HIS SUCCESSOR
‘ Advice of , his promotion to the position of Public Works Engineer in the Taumarunui district has been received by Mr G. W. Albertson, who has occupied positions of Resident and then District Engineer for the Department in Gisborne during the past four years. Mr Albertson came here from Whangarei as Resident Engineer, and about a year ago was promoted to the position ef District Engineer, a step which was applauded by all who had associations with Mr Albertson. In being moved to Taumarunui, where there is a considerably larger expenditure on public works than in Gisborne, further promotion has come his way, for the new district is on a higher grade than the local one.
. During Ins stay in Gisborne, Mr Albertson has made himself very popular, taking a prominent part in all local affairs. Ho is a popular member of the Poverty Bay Golf Club, the Gisborne Club Cricket Club and, the Gisborne Lawn Tennis Club, in all of which pastimes he has figured with distinction.
Mr Albertson will he succeeded at Gisborne, by Mr 0. G. Thornton, ot Paeroa, who arrives in the course of about a fortnight, after which Mr Albertson leaves for Taumarunui.
