l; The weekly meeting of the executive committee. of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association was held last evening. Mr H. E. Maude presided over the following delegates: Dr. Muir, Messrs G. Lynex,. V. Ri. C. Mitford,, A* Bignall, J. M. Kay, G. McGregor, F. Bennett, A. Baker, and the lion, secretary,’ Mr R. W. Ouigmings. Approval as from November 8, was given to the transfer of F. Stenner from Turanganui To City Club, ; The position regarding’ the opening day match between Celtic and City, when play continued beyond the call of time, giving Celtic a twopoint win, was considered, the Celtic Club delegate defining hjs club’s Attitude on tjije point. It was decided, in yiew "of the fact that violation of rule® had taken place, that the match be declared a draw. Reference was made to time wasted at the afternoon tea interval and it was resolved that this be limited to fifteen minutes, the umpires to take the time, and to proceed to their posts at the wickets at the time for commencement of play, after notifying the captains. The posit on of teams was reported as follows ;■'Old-Boys, School, Celtic and Civil Service 2 points each, remainder 0. Registrations were approved as follow:' H. F. Forster (Gisborne), Dr. Turbitt (Poverty Bay), Hope and Ogg (Celtic), The grounds committee reported that the mower was now in order and was doing good work. Commencement of the Thursday competition was deferred until Nov. 22 in view of there being no halfholiday on Thursday next. Wickets and umpires for next Saturday were allocated as follows:
Senior grade: Turanganui v. Civil Service, No. 3, Messrs Sharp and Morrison; School v, Celtic, No. 4, Messrs-Wilkes and Martin; Gisborne v. City, No, 1, Messrs Thomson and F. Corbett snr.; Old Boys v. Poverty Bay, No. 2, Messrs A. Guthrie and Schwabe. Junior: School A v. Turanganui at the-School; School B v* Celtic at the Domain. REPRESENTATIVE GAMES HAWKE CUP RE-GROUPING NOT FAVORED "> . - Advice was received from the Cricket Council that associations eligible for the Hawke Cup had been re-grouped for the qualifying round, Waiapu being placed alone and Poverty, Bay , grouped- with Hawke’s Bay. The Waiapu Association -also wrote on the- same matter. After discussion it was resolver] that the Association- venter an objection to the new grouping and ask that the matter bo arranged differently next season, Waiapu and Poverty Bay to be grouped together again oh account of the geographical situation, it • was also decided that a copy of the resolution be forwarded to the Waiapu Association.
Waiapu Association asked that the- match suggested for November 29 and 30 at Tokomaru Bay be a Kirk Cup game. It was moved that this be agreed to and the selector be asked to pick 15 men for this game- on the dates suggested.
As an amendment, Mr Bennett moved that" Hawke’s; Bay be written to asking if they would send a. teoni here to play in the eliminating match for the Hawke Chp. the Kirk Cup also to be contested for in the' same encounter ; further, in event of Hawke’s Bay not agreeing to play the game here, the Waiapu match be proceeded with. This was seconded by Mr Baker and carried.
Hopes were expressed that a visit from Wellington could be arranged for this season and it was resolved to write the ’Wellington Association asking if they could send a team to Gisborne this summer.
