AMAZING SCENES AT A CHURCH. “THE DEAD HAVE BODIES.” GLASGOW, Sept. 15. Amazing scenes occurred outside the Wellington (United Free Church of Scotland) Church, Glasgoiv, this morning, when Sir Oliver Lodge preached there.. Traffic Avas hold up by the huge crowds, and Sir Oliver Avas called upon-to give .his sermon tAvice. Half and hour before the service avus duo to begin the big church, ivlncli stands outside the university, Avas packed, and a crowd estimated at 7,000 or 8,000 Avas unable to get in. Sir Oliver gaA’c almost indentical sermons, although speaking Avithoiit notes. He said the light from some of the stars had taken 140,000,000 years to reach us, arid thus our naked eyes could see light that started on its way long before,the pyramids were built. He continued

Although Ave are looking into .the far-distant past our eyes see masses in Avhich the same atoms exist and the same chemical elements,, and which are obedient to the same laws. What does this shoiv? It slioavs that the Avhole universe is maintained bv ithe one single mind that brought it into existence. Man does not understand it:

I know by direct experience. . . .What 1. liaA’C ascertained in this connection is that those Avhom avc call the dead are not dead, but have just been separated from their bodily mechanism. A thrill Avcnt through the church as Sir Oliver, after a pause, said measuredly: T. have been in touch with the minds of certain people avlio have parted from their bodies. How can a mind get into touch with ns Ayhcn it has no material body? It must borrow some material form. But that does not mean that spirits have no bodies. They have substantial bodies, not made *up of matter, but, as I think of ether. My experience after 50 years is that this is truth. These people avlio have parted i-from their bodies demonstrate that they preserve , their memories, their characters, and their affections.
