Etna relief subscriptions on th:\t ground that- it is degrading. The Government are undertaking measures. During the first seventy-two hours of the eruption, the lava stream covered nine miles. It is now advancing at the rate of 300 feet daily over flatter land in the vicinity of the sea. . The Government has started a boat service occupying five bouts between Messina and Catania as the railway is cut.
