MR COLEMAN PERSISTS IN HIS INTERPRETATION.
BASES CHARGE ON ONLY ONE PASSAGE. The fact that the N.Z. .Welfare League had upbraided him and other members of the Labor Party for misinterpreting the booklet “New Zealand the Brighter Britain of the South,” published by the Government Publicity Office, and broadcast throughout the country to intending immigrants . was mentioned by Dir D. W. Coleman at Mangapapa last night. Mr Coleman claimed he had referr ed the passages £>f the pamphlet which he had quoted to leading business men, and they agreed with his interpretation of the extracts. The Welfare league he described, as a fewwell fed old gentlemen, who watched the work of the Labor Party and its members and wrote of their doings in the Press. “Pm pleased to think I’m worthy to come under the notice of such a body,” remarked.. Mr Coleman. “in fact, I’ll be wanting a hew hat. I do not think that thinking people will take any notice of i what the Welfare League says,” he added. -
