AUSTRALIAN TRADE. N.Z COMPANY OPPOSES DUMPING DUTY.' United Press Assn, by El. Tel. Oopyrlgb (Australian Brets Assn.) SYDNEY, Nov. 7. Before the Tariff' Bc-ard, Mr. AndrewFreebairn, of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd.,' opposed the application for a dumping duty on New Zealand skim-milk powder. He stated that Australian manufacturers were protected already to the extent of £l9 a ton! and any increase would seriously endanger the. use; of sldm-milk .powder for manufacturing purposes. He warned the Tariff Board that retaliatory measures' imposed l«y these- partis of the Empire against whom Australia wa-s irnppsmg duties would make trade within the Empire impossible. > Mr. Patrick Grant, of the Primary Producers’ ,Union of New South Wales, supporting the, application, said That so long as Australian manufacturers could supply their own reasonable requirements some measure of Protection was desirable. The hoard adjourned the hearing of the application
