FIRST TRIAL FOURS
The Gisborne Rowing Club opened its season last evening when the first round of the opening Trial Fours was commenced. Owing to the tides onlv two races were got off, but both proved good races. The first race was between L. Sriowsill (str.), Alien, Bain and J. Skeet, and P, T. Fromm (str.), K. Stout, Bennett, and Hamilton. Fromm took the lead from the staff and." although challenged strongly by Snowsill, hung on to win by ha'f iv length. ' „ G. J. Jeune (str.), Cairns. Knox. O’Dwyer, and R. Hanna'(str.). Stewart, Wetherlcy and Coates next went to the starting post to try conclusions, and a good hard race eventuated, Jeune gaining the decision by half a length. . The races will be continued tins evening. .' '
